{ Regina & Aaron } Florida Destination Wedding

At the end of last year I was incredibly lucky to fly over to Florida, USA to photograph the wedding of my dear friend Regina & her husband-to-be Aaron.

I first met Reggie in 2012 when she came over on a 'study abroad' program with her Texas university. We had a great time getting to know Reggie while she was over in our beautiful country & I still kept in contact with her these years after. It was very exciting to see on social media that Reggie had gotten engaged to her USA Marine boyfriend & I was extra excited when she asked me to come over and photograph their big day!

So a few days before New Years, I jumped on a plane and begun my 30 hour trek across the ocean and USA to get to Fort Lauderdale in Florida. When I arrived I felt like I was basically still in Brisbane. No wonder Reggie chose the part of Australia she did for the exchange! The temperatures were about the same, and it felt a lot like Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. In the days leading up to the wedding I helped Reggie get everything together and then the day before we all drove up to Titusville (roughly 3 hours from Fort Lauderdale) and it was nearly time to get these two hitched.

The day rolled around and despite the fact that it would rain all day, we still had an awesome time partying, drinking, dancing & eating. Birdsong Barn was such a gorgeous venue & if you're looking for something similar in Brisbane it's a lot like Boomerang Farm but without the Golf Course. Regina & Aaron said their vows under the twinkling fairy lights while the rain fell outside & then afterwards we all ate cake and boot-scooted the night away to cowboy country tunes.

My final days in the US were spent exploring Orlando & Miami and then after probably the best 9 days i've ever had in my life, I said a teary goodbye to Reggie & to the beautiful United States and flew all the way home to my darling husband. I'll never forget this incredible experience and I would absolutely LOVE to go back again soon. If you know anyone, or you yourself plan on getting married in the States, send me an email because I want to be involved.

Our New Website.

Hi there!

Over the past week and a bit I have been in damage control mode trying to redesign our website and move it across to Squarespace from Wordpress. Although I loved our original design, unfortunately I am not overly experienced with website technical stuff and I was unable to manage it effectively. As a result I was constantly receiving spam emails/comments on my website that was difficult to keep on top of & lead to the decision to change.

I had been working on doing this change for a while and never intended it to be as rushed as it has been. Unfortunately I received an email from my web host, GoDaddy informing me that my email was apparently sending hundreds of unsolicited spam emails to complete strangers. I had no idea this was happening and realised that the issues I was having with Wordpress was also effecting my emails.

Thankfully I was able to pull everything in the nick of time so that I wasn't booted out of GoDaddy & i've been working tirelessly to get everything back up and running. This however means that our old email address (info@kelseakphotography.com.au) had to be deleted so it wasn't sending spam emails anymore & as a result i've had to set up a new email address (hello@kelseak.com).

I am terribly sorry if this has caused an inconvenience for anyone. It has very much caused an inconvenience for me and I hope I am able to contact all my clients personally over the next few days to inform everyone of what has happening. I am incredibly thankful that no sensitive information was ever communicated through emails & therefore never obtained by another source. Although, even in my very limited understanding of website/internet stuff, I don't believe that would have ever happened anyway.

At the moment the website looks a little bare, but I appreciate your understanding during this time. Hopefully soon I will have all of our blog posts up on this new page so we have some content!

Much love,
Kelsea Midson xx

{ Steph & Tom } Engagement Session.

{ Stephanie & Tomas } Albert River Winery Wedding

I met Steph through a mutual friend a few years ago, so I was delighted when she & her fiancé Tom asked me to photograph their wedding. Secretly I had been hoping they would! Steph & Tom got the full package, they had an engagement shoot and I was at their wedding from start to finish. I am so glad I was because we got so many awesome photos that wouldn’t have happened if I was only there for half a day.

The styling of this gorgeous wedding was a 50′s glamour theme. Black, white & pale pink. It oozed class and sophistication and was a nice little breakaway from the rustic trend. Steph channeled Audrey Hepburn and had her bridesmaids (her sisters & sister’s in law) in the cutest tea length pink gowns with white fur boleros. The boys looked very dapper in their black tie attire which was the dress code for the wedding. It was lovely seeing guests in formal gowns!
The day went off without a hitch and it was the perfect weather for a beautiful occasion. Albert River Wines was, as usual, gorgeous, and we were blessed with perfect skies and comfortable temperatures.

I enjoyed working along side a wonderful photographer that i’ve called upon to second shoot a couple of times now. Lara covered the bridal party while Steph, Tom & I went off for their couples portraits. This meant that we got even more angles and photos of the day. Adding a second shooter onto your package is a great idea if you're wanting to maximise the amount of photographs you get.

I hope you enjoy looking at these gorgeous photos. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing it and it was an awesome day.
